Introduction to Transformers
A transformer is a device used to change the alternating voltage. It consists of two or more coils that transmit electrical energy through a shared magnetic field. One of the coils is called the main coil, which receives the current from the original power source, and the other coil is called the secondary coil, which outputs the transformed current. The working principle of transformers is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. When the main coil is connected to the AC power supply, the generated magnetic field will pass through the secondary coil, thereby inducing current in the secondary coil. According to the ratio of turns of the coil, the transformer can increase or decrease the voltage of the input power supply. When the number of turns of the secondary coil is more than that of the main coil, the output voltage will increase; On the contrary, when the number of turns of the secondary coil is greater than that of the main coil, the output voltage decreases. Transformers are widely used in fields such as power transmission, electronic equipment, and industrial production. It can effectively transport electrical energy from power plants to users, reducing energy and transmission losses.
