Transformer Working Principle

Released: 13/12/2022 09:45:00   Visits:1950

Transformer is one kind of stationary electrical equipment that using the principle of electromagnetic induction, with the same frequency to achieve AC voltage transformation between two or more windings, converting alternating current or impedance conversion. Transformer is widely used, e.g., in communication systems, transform signal transmission and impedance; in the automatic control system, play a role in electromagnetic isolation; in the power system, change the voltage level to meet high-voltage transmission, low voltage electricity power supply and other uses. As long as there is AC, there is transformer.

Base on usages, transformer can be divided into power transformers, control transformers, special transformers, etc. Power transformers can be divided into single-phase transformers, auto transformers, three-phase transformer. But no matter what purposes, transformer is mainly consist of core and winding. Winding including sheath insulated copper or aluminum wire. Winding methods including cylindrical, spiral, continuous, tangled type, etc. For cylindrical type, low Voltage winding is in the inner layer of the core, high voltage winding is out around the low voltage winding. Cylindrical windings can be divided into: multi-layered, sub-type and low pressure double cylinder type. Generally, spiral winding is using for low voltage and high-current windings; continuous winding transformers for medium voltage winding and winding; tangle is to increase the vertical capacitor windings with good anti-thunder performance, which is mainly using for large transformer of 110 ~ 500KV windings.
